The Edgar Family, deeply entrenched in Riverside for two generations, has a rich history connected to soccer.
Bill Edgar, an alumnus of Arlington High School, played soccer during his high school years. Although he didn’t play in college, his passion for the sport endured as he pursued higher education at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and later at Southwestern Law School, establishing a career in family law. His sister, Kim Edgar, also a standout at Arlington High School, excelled as the Coca-Cola Player of the Year and later as an All-American in college, supported by a soccer scholarship.
Recognizing a significant need for better resources and support for young athletes, Bill Edgar established the Edgar Family Foundation, a registered charity.
This foundation aims to empower young talent and support community initiatives, with a special emphasis on soccer. It operates with three main goals: providing access to elite training and competitive teams for young players, including travel expenses; fostering public-private partnerships to develop a dedicated soccer facility in Riverside; and establishing an endowment for Arlington High School soccer players, offering annual scholarships.
Jacob Edgar, Bill's son, continues the family legacy, having recently graduated from Arlington High School and currently playing soccer at Dominican University of California. Through their foundation, the Edgar family seeks to give back to the community that nurtured them, ensuring young athletes receive the soccer financial assistance and opportunities they need to succeed.
